History

ScriptX 1.0 was introduced by MeadCo in 1998 as a freely distributable utility offering a limited set of print formatting controls -- header & footer settings, printed orientation, coarse control of margins and a browser window/frame printing command -- together with a useful set of script-enhancing functions such as the display of dialogs and messages boxes, the provision of dynamic event binding and others.

That basic functionality is still available at no charge, and is freely distributable.

In June 1999 the company released a licensed version of ScriptX which additionally offered a full set of advanced printing functionality which can only be deployed in the presence of a paid-for Security Manager publishing license file.

The current version of ScriptX extends browser support from IE 4.01 SP1 - IE 7.0 on all Windows platforms from Windows 95 to Windows Vista. It supports Microsoft's Print Template technology and the other enhancements to IE's printing architecture which were introduced with the releases of IE 5.5 and more recently IE 7.0.

In future ScriptX will support new versions of Internet Explorer immediately upon their release. ScriptX is part of Microsoft's application compatibility test suite for IE7 and beyond.
